Amazon announces Q4 2020 financial results and CEO transition – As we reported earlier, Andy Jassy will take over as Amazon CEO. Current Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos will transition to the role of Executive Chair in Q3 2021.

In Q4 2020, net sales increased 44% to $125.6 billion vs. $87.4 billion in Q4 2019. Also, net income increased to $7.2 billion in Q4 vs $3.3 billion in the same period a year ago.

Amazon had a record-breaking holiday season, delivering more than a billion toys, home, fashion, electronics, beauty and personal care products to customers.

The fourth quarter marked Prime Video’s strongest viewership for live sports. In the U.S., Prime Video’s exclusive coverage of the San Francisco 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals NFL game on December 26 drew an estimated 11.2 million total viewers and delivered the highest digital average-minute-audience ever for an NFL regular season game.

Amazon announced that Fire TV now reaches more than 50 million monthly active users around the world. 

HBO drama series “The Nevers” debuts in April – “In the last years of Victoria’s reign, London is beset by the “Touched”: people – mostly women – who suddenly manifest abnormal abilities – some charming, some very disturbing. Among them are Amalia True (Laura Donnelly), a mysterious, quick-fisted widow, and Penance Adair (Ann Skelly), a brilliant young inventor. They are the champions of this new underclass, making a home for the Touched, while fighting the forces of… well, pretty much all the forces – to make room for those whom history as we know it has no place.”

The ensemble cast also includes Olivia Williams, James Norton, Tom Riley, Rochelle Neil, Eleanor Tomlinson, Amy Manson, Pip Torrens, Denis O’Hare, Zackary Momoh, Elizabeth Berrington, Kiran Sawar, Anna Devlin, Viola Prettejohn, Ella Smith, Nick Frost and Ben Chaplin.

The series will be 6 episodes available on HBO and to stream on HBO Max.
