Moviegoers turned out in historic numbers over the past week for Christopher Nolan’s epic film, The Odyssey. In fact, from Thursday last week through Sunday, more than 4.3 million moviegoers flooded AMC Theatres in the United States and ODEON Cinemas internationally. Furthermore, the demand led to AMC running for more than 85 consecutive hours at select flagship U.S. locations. Add Silver Spring, Maryland’s AFI Silver Theatre to the mix of remarkable ‘Odyssey’ box office. The historic theater, reported that The Odyssey is officially the best opening week-gross in their entire 23 year history.
AFI Silver Theatre reports that 70mm screenings are on sale through August 6. To be clear, the Silver is recommending advanced tickets. In addition, customers should arrive at least 30-40 minutes before the showtime in order to grab seats and concessions.
Silver Theatre movie-goer Rebecca Doyle commented today “Seeing this was the greatest cinema experience I’ve had. I had no clue how much a difference using REAL film makes. The colors and texture were unlike anything I’d seen before!”
There are roughly 100 theaters worldwide equipped for standard celluloid 70mm projection, with dozens of those locations spread across the U.S.
