Summer 2026 is closing out with a massive bang at the domestic box office. Sony’s mega-blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day maintained its Web-Slinging grip on the #1 spot for the August 28–30 weekend, pulling in $22.2 million across 3,678 theaters. The installment pushed its domestic total to a staggering $891.5 million.
Coming in at #2, Falling Forward Films’ long-awaited release of Coyote vs. Acme enjoyed a resilient debut, taking in $15.47 million from 3,575 locations ($4,327 per-location average).
Universal’s epic contender The Odyssey continued its strong late-summer run, locking down the #3 spot with $14.3 million. Holding firm with a modest -27% drop from last weekend, the film’s cumulative domestic box office crossed $563.8 million.
Rounding out the top five, Sony’s horror sequel Insidious: Out of the Further grabbed $10.1 million in its second frame (bringing its cume to $43.6 million), while 20th Century Studios’ post-apocalyptic drama The Dog Stars debuted at #5 with $8.0 million across 3,330 locations.
