Sports Illustrated is expanding its digital footprint with a major new addition to its lineup. Emmy Award-winning journalist Rachel Nichols is set to host “The Story with Rachel Nichols,” a new weekday morning show premiering Monday, October 19 on SI TV.
Airing Monday through Friday at 9:00 a.m. ET, the show aims to deliver the context, depth, and background behind major sports headlines that standard box scores leave out.
“This show is built around the stories behind the scores,” said Nichols. “That’s what Sports Illustrated does better than anyone, and I’m thrilled to be expanding my relationship with the most iconic name in sports coverage.”
What to Expect
With over three decades of sports journalism experience, Nichols will bring her distinct perspective and expertise to the fast-paced daily broadcast. Beyond airing on SI TV, episodes will also be accessible on SI.com and the SI YouTube channel.
In addition to hosting this new flagship show, Nichols will maintain her ongoing roles as co-host of SI’s Open Floor podcast alongside Chris Mannix, host/analyst at Fox Sports, and host at Monumental Sports Network.
Growing Reach for SI TV
Launched earlier this year, SI TV has rapidly grown into a 24/7 free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel reaching more than 125 million viewers across 13 streaming platforms, including Prime Video, The Roku Channel, DIRECTV, Sling Freestream, and Xumo Play.
Alongside original feature content—such as the recent documentary “Ohtani: Made in Iwate”—SI TV has broadened its live sports coverage to include live college football, PGA Tourcast, Major League Table Tennis, and the NASCAR Euro Series.
Steve Cannella, editor-in-chief of Sports Illustrated, called the show “the perfect flagship for SI TV,” citing Nichols’ experience and storytelling ability as a key driver to make the channel an essential morning destination for sports fans.
How to Watch: Tune in every weekday morning at 9:00 a.m. ET starting October 19 on SI TV, SI.com, or YouTube. You can also follow updates on social media via @sportsillustratedTV.
