‘The Odyssey’ Sets Sail for Home Video on November 17 with 90+ Minutes of Extras

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment confirmed today that Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster adaptation of Homer’s epic will arrive simultaneously on digital platforms and physical media on November 17, 2026. The Odyssey release covers digital purchase and rental (Apple TV, Prime Video, Fandango at Home, YouTube, and others) plus DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD discs—the same day, rather than the more common staggered rollout where digital precedes physical by weeks.

The film opened theatrically on July 17, 2026, and has grossed $1.78 billion worldwide ($623.1 million domestically), making it the highest-grossing title in both Nolan’s career and Universal’s 114-year history. That puts the roughly 123-day theatrical window in line with the one Universal and Nolan used for Oppenheimer. The home version is listed at a 2-hour-53-minute runtime in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio.

The special features package is the real draw for physical and digital buyers.

Purchased copies include more than 90 minutes of behind-the-scenes material personally overseen by Nolan—12 featurettes that track the production from adaptation through finishing:

  • Plotting a Course — Nolan on adapting the classic literary work.
  • Icons — Casting, costumes, hair, makeup, and performances.
  • The Widest Window — Realizing a long-held IMAX ambition and pushing cinema boundaries.
  • On Location — Global shoots and extreme conditions.
  • The Horse — Designing Nolan’s version of the Trojan Horse.
  • The Fall of Troy — The large-scale Moroccan battle set.
  • Ithaca — Combining a 15th-century castle on Italy’s Favignana island with soundstage work.
  • Battle Ready — Damon, Holland, and the stunt team on the action.
  • Apparent Magic — Practical and visual effects collaboration.
  • The Sea People — Ships, open-sea work, and storm sequences.
  • The Score — Ludwig Göransson on ancient instruments, vocals, and the soundtrack.
  • Bringing It Home — Editing and sound design in post.

Physical editions add exclusives: the film’s trailers, an IMAX-exclusive prologue, the music video for “When I’m Home” by James Blake, Travis Scott, and Göransson, and “The Journey of Film on The Odyssey,” in which content creator Reece Feldman walks Nolan through what happens to the film after it leaves the set.
