AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. has officially reported its highest quarterly revenue and Adjusted EBITDA in the company’s 106-year history. Driven by a resurgent box office, strategic fleet optimization, and increased market share across both domestic and international markets, AMC’s third-quarter 2026 results far exceeded Wall Street expectations. CEO Adam Aron enthusiastically described the period as “the quarter to beat all quarters”.

The financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, highlight a dramatic turnaround and substantial growth:
- Record-Breaking Revenue: Total revenues reached $1.711 billion. This represents a 31.6% increase compared to the $1.3 billion reported in the third quarter of 2025.
- Profitability Surge: Net earnings hit $109.3 million, marking a massive $407.5 million improvement over the $298.2 million loss in Q3 2025.
- Adjusted EBITDA: Adjusted EBITDA skyrocketed by 183.7% to a record $347.5 million. The Adjusted EBITDA margin also reached a record 20.3%.
- Free Cash Flow: Q3 Free Cash Flow was $109.3 million, an improvement of over $190 million year-over-year. Management expects the company to achieve positive annual Free Cash Flow for the full year 2026.
- Attendance Growth: The theater chain welcomed nearly 75 million guests globally during the quarter. Domestic attendance rose by 23.3% to over 52.1 million patrons. International attendance jumped by 41.5% to 22.7 million patrons.
A major factor behind these margins is the company’s continuous investment in premium viewing experiences. Since 2020, AMC has optimized its circuit by closing 228 underperforming locations while opening 66 highly desirable new theaters. During this same period, the company added 72 Premium Large Format (PLF) auditoriums and 217 Extra-Large (XL) auditoriums, expanding its premium offerings by more than 50%. These upgrades have successfully translated into all-time record revenue per patron, setting new high-water marks for both consolidated admissions revenue per patron and food and beverage revenue per patron.
Beyond operational success at the box office, AMC took significant steps to secure its long-term financial footing. On October 5, 2026, the company completed a transformative $3.97 billion refinancing deal. This transaction refinanced approximately 97% of AMC’s existing debt, extended debt maturities out to 2031 and 2033, and lowered the company’s average cost of capital.
Looking ahead, management remains highly optimistic about the remainder of the year. The October domestic box office was already up approximately 35% compared to the same month last year. With highly anticipated releases slated for the end of the year—including Dune: Part Three, Avengers: Doomsday, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, and Jumanji: Open World—AMC anticipates the remaining slate will push full-year box office figures to their highest levels in seven years. As Aron noted on the earnings call, AMC is no longer merely surviving; it is functioning as a fundamentally different and stronger company ready to thrive in a restored theatrical landscape.
