ABC releases new images from America Idol Season 4 – Season 4 kicks off Sunday, February 14 at 8pm/ET.

Ryan Seacrest, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Bobby Bones are ready for Season 4 of American Idol on ABC

“American Idol,” the iconic series that revolutionized the television landscape by pioneering the music competition genre, will return to airwaves for another season on the ABC Television Network. Helping determine who America will ultimately vote for to become the next singing sensation are music industry forces and superstar judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Emmy® Award-winning host and producer Ryan Seacrest will return to the beloved competition series as host and radio and TV personality Bobby Bones is set to return as in-house mentor.

TikTok has new learning tools – TikTok is partnering with Quizlet, the popular online study platform, to provide a new way for creators to explore topics and ideas they’re interested in and want to learn more about.

Select creators, focused on learning and informative content, will soon begin to see an option to add a Quizlet link about educational subjects such as science, math, languages, arts, and more. To add a Quizlet link to a video, simply click “Add Link” during the creation process and a dropdown menu will show an option to select Quizlet.

TikTok already has an active a community of teachers, scientists, chefs, doctors, makeup artists and many more types of experts in different fields. #LearnOnTikTok has nearly 60 billion views on the app.

Studios Hold Out Hope for Theaters’ Return to Normalcy – With theatrical releases still being the biggest source of revenue for studios, they are holding most of their big releases until movie theaters are open again. “Despite more delays, don’t expect Hollywood studios to abandon ship and offload their most precious cargo — event tentpoles. They’re still willing to wait for a proper theatrical run, and are hopeful that COVID-19 vaccines may calm the waters and allow moviegoing to resume in earnest by fall, if not late summer.” [THR]

Shares of AMC Entertainment surged over 200% today as feverish buying continues from retail traders – On Wednesday morning, AMC Entertainment shares increased by more than 200% during premarket trading and hit more than $15 per share, nearly seven times the average analyst price target. AMC joins GameStop, BlackBerry, Bed Bath & Beyond, Etsy and a list of heavily shorted stocks that have recently seen eye-opening gains thanks to encouragement from individual investors on Reddit’s WallStreetBets. Hedge funds that are short on the other side have been rushing to cover their losses.

HBO Max activations double since end of Q3 2020 – By end of Q4 2020, HBO Max saw 17.2 million activations. Total domestic HBO Max and HBO subs topped 41 million and nearly 61 million worldwide. Warner Media’s parent, AT&T, made the announcement today. [AT&T]

American Spirit and Nielsen announce agreement for Local TV measurement services – “This includes a new contract for local TV measurement and Nielsen Ad Intel for American Spirit station WDBD in Jackson, Miss., and a renewal for local TV measurement and Nielsen Ad Intel for WSFX in Wilmington, N.C. In addition, KVHP, Lake Charles, La., and WXTX  Columbus Ga., have signed new agreements for Nielsen Ad Intel. Nielsen Ad Intel is the leading provider of competitive advertising intelligence information, tracking ad activity and spending across all local markets.” [Nielsen]
