TikTok is supporting National Eating Disorders Awareness (#NEDAwareness) Week (February 22 – 28, 2021) – TikTok is introducing new in-app support for body inclusivity. Starting this week, when a user searches for #edrecovery #proana or other phrases related to eating disorders, TikTok will display access to the National Eating Disorders Association Helpline where they can find help, support, and information about treatment options. They’ll also show tips they developed with eating disorders experts.

This won’t just be a one week effort. All year, TikTok is introducing permanent public services announcements on hashtags like #whatieatinaday, #emotionaleatingtips and #bingerecovery. The platform is also refining their policies against promoting eating disorders.

Clubhouse promises fix after audio insecurely streamed from third-party website – “Clubhouse has confirmed one of its users was able to siphon off audio feeds from the invitation-only app and make them accessible from a third-party website, raising security concerns about the fledgling service. A Clubhouse spokesperson told Bloomberg that “multiple rooms” were affected, and that the user behind the breach had been “permanently banned.” It said “safeguards” have been put in place to prevent a repeat, though it reportedly declined to provide specific details.” [The Verge]

Soulja Boy Is Planning on Releasing Another Video Game Console – Following a failed attempt in 2018, rapper Soulja Boy, perhaps best known for his song Crank That (Soulja Boy), is apparently gearing up to release another new game console. [IGN]

There are no Black journalists among the 87 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, according to the Los Angeles Times – “One week to the day before the 78th annual Golden Globe Awards, the organization behind the ceremony is reeling from a scathing exposé in the Los Angeles Times.” [THR]

Jay-Z and LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE are joining forces in the Champagne business – LVMH, the world’s biggest producer of Champagne, has taken a 50% stake in Armand de Brignac, the high-end Champagne brand owned by Jay-Z, the rapper and mogul. The brand, one of the youngest in the famed sparkling wine region, is known for its metallic bottles that cost hundreds of dollars each. [WSJ]

Weekend Box Office: The Croods: A New Age Estimated to Hit No. 1 for 5th Time – The Dreamworks Animation sequel is estimated to have earned $1.7 million over the weekend. Box Office Pro says it is the second film after Tenet to cross the $50 million mark in the domestic box office during the pandemic.
