Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure park plan to reopen on April 30, 2021. Here is the phased re-opening plan shared by Disney:
- Now Open – Downtown Disney District
- April 30, 2021 – Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park
- April 29, 2021 – Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
- The Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will reopen at a later date
Theme park capacity will be “significantly limited” to comply with California requirements. Physical distancing will also be promoted. Therefore, Disney is implementing a new theme park reservation system. All guests will have to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance.
So, to enter a park, two things will be needed. First, a park reservation. Secondly, a valid admission for the same park on the same date for guests ages 3+. Therefore, reservations will be limited and subject to availability. Also, only California residents can visit until further notice. This is in line with state guidelines.
Disney had three re-opening guiding principles. First, enhanced cleanliness precedures. Extra attention will be paid to high-traffic areas. There will be hand sanitizer and hand-washing stations. Secondly, temporary adjustments to promote physical distancing. So, expect to see signage and physical barriers to promote distancing. Lastly, experiences may be modified to reduce contact. For example, cashless transactions are recommended.
Face coverings are required for those age 2 and up. Temperature screenings are required to enter certain areas.
Disneyland closed a year ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Walt Disney World successfully reopened in Florida last Summer.
