Daniel Philhower, the company’s publisher, will purchase Texas based Granite Publications. According to Dirks, Van Essen & April, the transaction will be effective November 1, 2021. Additionally, terms were not disclosed. To be clear, there are ten non-daily newspapers involved in the deal.
Granite describes itself as a “family of community newspapers in towns across Texas.” Furthermore, the publisher owns a printing facility in Taylor, Texas. The company’s goal is to to be “the best source of news and information for our communities.”
Founder Jim Chionsini passed away in July 2020. Granite has served the community for over 40 years. One of their newspapers, The Vindicator, started in 1887. Furthermore, it has published continuously since then. Other titles include Taylor Press, The Bandera Bulletin, Elgin Courier and The Progress.
