Nintendo celebrated the grand opening of their San Francisco store on Thursday. This is one of only two official Nintendo stores in the U.S. To be clear, Mario himself was on hand for the ribbon cutting. The store offers in-store gaming in addition to shopping.
Nintendo of America’s Devon Pritchard told NBC Bay Area that the game company would be bringing “unique goods” only seen thus far in Japan. Furthermore, this sets the San Francisco outpost apart from its New York sibling location.

Other retailers like Zara will also be moving into the Union Square shopping district. Hope is that shops like Nintendo will encourage other retailers to move into the area. The store is located at 331 Powell St, San Francisco, CA 94102.

Splatoon, Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and more are all represented in the merchandise offered at the store. To be clear, there is an entire section of the store devoted to Splatoon.
Nintendo of America Senior Manger PJ Sadler told KPIX that Union Square is an iconic location and the “throughput and traffic” in the area are perfect for what Nintendo is trying to do.
