Make your Christmas entertainment plans now. HBO Max announced that Wonder Woman 1984 will be available to stream on Christmas Day, December 25, at 9am PT/12pm ET. Wonder Woman 1984 will exclusively stream on HBO Max for 31 days from its release, at no extra cost to HBO Max subscribers.
As of this hour, Wonder Woman 1984 has been “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes with a 81% score. According to Google’s Trends, interest in the Wonder Woman sequel is peaking.
With director Patty Jenkins back at the helm and Gal Gadot returning in the title role, Wonder Woman 1984 is Warner Bros. Pictures’ follow up to the DC Super Hero’s first outing, 2017’s record-breaking Wonder Woman, which took in $822 million at the worldwide box office. The film also stars Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta.
Wonder Woman is the first of Warner Bros. blockbusters to premiere on HBO Max same day as the theater release. Director Patty Jenkins told The New York Times that she believes this is a temporary one year plan.
Jenkins is slated to direct a new Star Wars movie called “Rogue Squadron” next.
Wonder Woman 1984 is rated PG-13 or sequences of action and violence.
