Vernon Publishing, Inc. has agreed to acquire a group of publications in the Lake of the Ozarks region of Missouri from Gannett. Vernon Publishing, Inc. is owned by the Vernon family.
“We are excited for the opportunity to publish this group of publications around the Lake of the Ozarks. I have great memories of growing up on and around the lake. We think these publications are a natural fit with the others we currently own. The future of these publications and the area is looking bright.”
Trevor Vernon
Media merger and acquisition firm Dirks, Van Essen & April represented Gannett in the deal. No details on terms.
Bernie Szachara, who leads Gannett’s U.S. publishing operations, recently told Poynter:
“Our mission is to empower communities, and our decisions are driven by our commitment to best serve them. Having been approached by prospective buyers, we’ve carefully considered what was best for both our company and the community, and we’re pleased that in several situations, a local owner will continue to lead these brands into the future.”
