Will Smith Enters ‘Fortnite’

Actor Will Smith has entered the Fortnite metaverse. The Battle Royale game added Will Smith’s “Mike Lowrey” character from Bad Boys to the Item Shop today, part of the “Loose Cannon Set”. To be clear, Michael Eugene “Mike” Lowrey is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Marcus Burnett) of the Bad Boys franchise. Furthermore, according the Bad Boys Wiki, “He is a wealthy ladies man and a detective with Miami PD. He is portrayed by Will Smith”

Will Smith as “Mike Lowrey” in Bad Boys

Bad Boys is a Michael Bay directed film. The Will Smith blockbuster opened April 7, 1995 and brought in $141.1 million at the box office. Furthermore it was one of a line of success films from the producer duo Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer. The pair were behind Beverly Hills Copy and Top Gun.

The successful first film led to 2003’s Bad Boys II and Bad Boys for Life in 2020. Furthermore, Martin Lawrence starred in all three as Lowrey’s partner “Marcus Burnett”.

Why Bad Boys?

While Lowrey is a welcome addition to the shop, some Fortnite fans question the choice. You see, the game is currently in an alien themed season. That includes UFOs, extra-terrestrials and more. Therefore, why not feature Smith’s Men in Black or Independence Day characters?

The Mike Lowrey Outfit includes the Detective’s Duffle Back Bling. That is basically a police backpack. Rounding out the “Loose Cannon Set’ is Mike’s dual-wielding pickaxe, the “Loose Cannon Cutters”.
