Riverton, Utah welcomes a new 14 screen theatre. The Cinemark Riverton and XD theatre opened June 30 in the Mountain View Village lifestyle center. Riverton is located in the Salt Lake City area. Cinemark’s latest movie house features the “fan-favorite” Luxury Lounger recliners. Furthermore, an XD auditorium promises an “ultra-immersive moviegoing experience”.
“Movie fans of all ages are invited to come and be fully transported into these captivating journeys through our ultra-immersive technology and highly sought-after amenities. We are proud to provide an affordable and exceptional entertainment offering as families and friends look to spend quality time together.”
Jay Jostrand, Cinemark Executive Vice President of Real Estate
The chain’s Luxury Loungers boast heated, oversized seats for comfort. Of course, they are electric powered. In addition, there are “D-BOX” seats that immerse moviegoers. To be clear, those seats synchronize the on screen action with motion control in the seats.
The premium Cinemark XD auditorium boasts the largest wall-to-wall screen at the theatre. Furthermore, XD moviegoers experience 11.1 layer multichannel surround sound.
Concessions include Cinemark’s “Signature Pizza” and other hot food in addition to popcorn. Coca-Cola freestyle machines provide over 100 flavors of soda. Coffee fans will be glad to know Starbucks beverages are also at hand. Birthday party planners will appreciate the private party room that can be booked for up to 20 guests.
“I am so honored to have Cinemark join our family of amazing tenants at Mountain View Village,” Fred Bruning, Chairman and Founder of CenterCal Properties shared. “Having worked with Cinemark over several decades on many locations, I have come to know them as the premier theatre operator in the country, and their new, ultra-modern luxury theatre in Riverton will raise the standard for movie-watchers in the region. Many happy memories will be created and shared in this best-of-class theatre!”
A game room featuring a Terminator shooting game is also part of the new theatre. Furthermore, claw machines are available for those seeking a prize before the movie starts.
Moviegoers React
Excellent reviews greet the new Cinemark multiplex. After about a week, the Cinemark average 5 out of 5 stars on Google Maps reviews.
Nathanael Johnson calls it a “beautiful new theater.” Furthermore, Mr. Johnson hails it as “clean, spacious and easy to move through.” Finally, he reveals that he found the seats to be “comfortable and spaced out.”
One fan called this new Cinemark the best theatre, besides the legendary Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, California. Yet another fan, Cierra Laumua, said the “popcorn was perfect.” She appreciated the heated seats.
Best June Box Office in the Covid Era
There is another reason Cinemark is celebrating, besides launching their new theatre. The Plano, Texas based chain announced that the June 2022 box office performance was stellar. In fact, it was the company’s highest-grossing month since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
Sean Gamble, Cinemark President and CEO, pointed to a “steady stream of diverse, compelling new film content” as part of the recent success. He also welcomed “improving moviegoer sentiment.”
Gamble is right- June’s offerings provided the type of breadth not seen in over two years. Typically, in the COVID era, box office performances were dependent on a singular blockbuster. Cinemark called out Top Gun: Maverick specifically. That sequel flew past the $1 billion global box office mark in June. Furthermore, the theatre brand said these movies also drew moviegoers: Jurassic World Dominion, Lightyear, Elvis and The Black Phone.
