Shakira did not need another hit. She needed the guest the internet had been waiting on for almost a year.
On Saturday night, Oct. 3, during the eighth of 12 dates at the purpose-built Shakira Stadium inside Madrid’s Iberdrola Music complex, the Colombian star brought out Dua Lipa for a stripped-down “Antología.” It was the first time the two had shared a stage. The ballad, from Shakira’s 1995 album Pies Descalzos, is the same song Lipa sang in Spanish last November in Bogotá — the city where Shakira wrote it — on the Radical Optimism Tour.
In front of more than 50,000 people, plus a global livestream on Amazon Music, Prime Video and Twitch, Shakira stalled the introduction just long enough to sell the shock. “Now I really need someone to pinch me,” she said in Spanish. “Who is this goddess?” She called the duet “an honor and a privilege,” then added the line that traveled fastest: “Today, I officially declare myself your fan.” After they met that afternoon, she joked that if she had been a fan before, she was now “the president” of the fan club, citing Lipa’s humility with her team.
Lipa answered in Spanish — “Thank you very much, I’m very grateful to be here” — and took the second verse. The arrangement stayed acoustic. Harmonies locked on the chorus. They embraced at the end. Shakira’s closer, caught on the livestream: “Oh my, oh my, what this tour was missing.”
The moment sat inside a residency that has already functioned as a guest lottery. Alejandro Sanz, Laura Pausini and Manuel Turizo had already passed through. Lipa was the crossover booking. She had landed in Madrid from Paris earlier Saturday. Fan footage from after the song showed her still in the building, waving to the crowd rather than heading for the exit.
Post Show Reaction
After the show, Lipa posted in Spanish that she, Shakira and the audience had felt like one, and that she was taking home “a beautiful memory.” Shakira’s own caption, shared with photos from the night, called it “a dream come true for many of us.”

The business frame is as large as the sentimental one. Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran is already the highest-grossing tour by a Latin artist on the Guinness books, at $421.6 million and 3.3 million tickets across 86 shows, according to Billboard’s accounting of the run. The Madrid stand, Sept. 18 through Oct. 11, is the victory lap. Amazon Music said Sunday that the Oct. 3 broadcast was the most-viewed livestream by a female artist in the platform’s history. The Dua Lipa cameo is the clip that did the distribution.
What X made of it
The posts that cut through were less about set-list trivia than about scale.
Billboard Argentina led with the afterphoto drop: “Shakira shared photos with Dua Lipa after singing ‘Antología’ together in Madrid, where the British singer was her surprise guest.” That post cleared 1,300 likes. Culture account @notgwendalupe’s clip, simply captioned “Dua Lipa at Shakira’s concert,” did similar numbers and became the quote-tweet spine of the night.
@ThePopStage kept it to one sentence that fans kept repeating: “Shakira and Dua Lipa together on stage. This moment is so big. Pop history was made.”
HELLO! Canada carried Lipa’s own line into English — “I felt like you, me and the audience were one” — and reminded readers that last year’s Bogotá cover was the setup, not the payoff.
The detail that stuck with Spanish-language users was that Lipa did not vanish after the ballad. @dona_pily2: “Don’t think this powerhouse Dua Lipa went back to her hotel after singing with Shakira in Madrid. She stayed and she enjoyed it.” Fan chart account @Shakira_Vitium made the same point with more biography: Lipa learned “Antología” to honor Shakira in Colombia, flew to Madrid, sang it with her, and stayed through the end of the show.
El Nacional framed the booking against the residency’s earlier guests and posted a long clip credited to @ShakiraMedia, whose “MADRID, YOU GOT DUA LIPA!” post became the default embed across Latin American outlets. Consequence later circulated the Amazon Music feed of the duet itself.
No studio single has been announced. The residency has four dates left, through Oct. 11. For one Saturday in Madrid, the catalog song did the work a new collaboration usually does.
