Beyoncé Drops First New Music in Two Years

Beyoncé has surprised fans with the release of a brand-new song titled “MORNING DEW (DONK)”, marking her first new musical offering in two years. Co-written and produced alongside longtime collaborators Pharrell Williams and The-Dream, the track serves as a direct thank-you to the BeyHive.

The surprise drop officially kicks off a 60-day countdown leading up to her birthday on September 4, where she will celebrate the 20th anniversary of her seminal second studio album, B’DAY (originally released in 2006). “MORNING DEW (DONK)” will be featured on the upcoming special 20th Anniversary edition of the album.

To accompany the track, Queen Bey also shared a nostalgic lyric video directed by Cliff Watts, featuring repurposed archival footage.

Availability: “MORNING DEW (DONK)” is available to stream now across all major platforms.

The Hollywood Reporter Exclusive: “Behind the ‘Supergirl’ Bomb: Competing Cuts, Creative Differences”

An exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter details the massive behind-the-scenes turmoil that led to DC Studios’ latest box office disappointment, Supergirl. Budgeted between $170 million and $180 million, the film crashed during its opening weekend with a meager $37.1 million domestic haul—falling even below 2024’s heavily panned Joker: Folie à Deux. Insiders reveal that DC Studios boss James Gunn and director Craig Gillespie were plagued by deep creative differences throughout post-production, particularly regarding the film’s pacing, villain screentime, and music choices.

The creative friction culminated in an unusual March “bakeoff,” where the studio tested Gunn’s preferred cut directly against Gillespie’s slightly longer version. While Gillespie’s cut scored better on pacing and song choices, the studio’s version eked out a marginal two-point victory in test screenings and ultimately became the cut sent to theaters. Despite the massive setback for the newly minted DCU, studio co-chief Peter Safran remains publicly confident in their long-term strategy, with a packed slate including Clayface, Man of Tomorrow, and various television spinoffs still actively moving forward. Movie Box Office Update

The Independence Day holiday box office is turning into a unique battle of animated heavyweights, counterprogramming, and a few notable drops. While the overall numbers are softer domestically than past holiday stretches—thanks to a combination of a massive summer heatwave, the World Cup, and America 250 outdoor celebrations—the theater business is keeping remarkably busy.
