Dave Portnoy announced yesterday that is he supporting Safemoon. “The Decision” video has 2.3 million views on Twitter alone as we went to press Tuesday evening. He still has his Bitcoin but he’s looking at other new cryptocurrencies with potential. Portnoy, in a video posted online with the hashtag #SAFEMOONARMY further outlined why he picked this particular cryptocurrency today:
- Safemoon has a “big army” already- around 2 million people who already bought it
- It’s harder to buy and that it discourages selling
- He wanted to be early and the name was appealing
He has put $40,000-$45,000 in Safemoon to hold.
“Is there risk involved? Yeah. I didn’t put my net worth in it. I put 40 grand in. I’m not pumping and dumping. I’m holding it.”
Dave Portnoy
Portnoy’s decision had made waves through the crypto community and in financial media. Fox Business Network discussed the Safemoon announcement today. Looking at Google Trend data, interest in Safemoon popped in mid to late April as its price spiked. Furthermore, the metro areas of Marquette, West Palm Beach, Miami, Minot-Bismarck and Colorado Springs are showing the most interest in searching for info.
The Barstool Sports founder shared a video titled “How to Buy Safemoon in 1 Minute.” Portnoy’s followers on Twitter consistently asked how to get into this cryptocurrency since his big announcement Monday.
The One Bite Pizza toasted artist Diplo’s video showing a large Safemoon logo projected behind him on stage during a DJ set. This was between Tweets of pizza reviews, Barstool Sportsbook going live in Indiana and sharing MarketWatch stories about his SafeMoon support.
