Paxton Media Group is acquiring Landmark Community Newspapers. The sale includes all 47 newspapers in the Landmark chain, which is based in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Landmark’s Kentucky publications include Elizabethtown, Shelbyville, Shepherdsville, Lebanon and Bardstown. In addition, Landmark owns properties in Florida, Indiana, Iowa, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
Paxton runs around 120 publications in 14 states. The Paducah, Kentucky based firm also owns WPSD-TV in Paducah. The firm plans to take over Landmark operations in early June.

Dirks, Van Essen & April, a media merger and acquisition firm based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, represented Paxton Media Group in the transaction. Terms were not disclosed.
